The effect of surrounding sound

for ultrasonic rangefinder

The Vertex Hypsometer users often report that

the surrounding sound such as waterfall or cicada

sometimes disturb ultrasonic distance measurement

between tansponder and instrument.

This phenomena derives from Instruments receiver

unable to distinguish ultrasound reflected by transponder

and ultrasound inclusive surrounding sound such as

waterfall, cicad or exhorst noise of forestry machines.

Sweden Haglof

Spiegel Relaskop

Spiegel Relaskop

The relaskos are principally known in connection with

angle-count sampling(ACS),a method which determines

basal area density in forests  by a simple counting method.

The relaskop automatically connects any inclination in the line of  sight

making it posible to easily find stand basal area in square meters per hectar

either at breast height ( 1.3 m above the ground or any other height.)

The relaskop offer quite a few other measurement applications

in practical and scientific forestry.

* Determining horizontal distance with automatic correction

for the angle of inclination

*Measurement of Total tree height, or heights to particullar

upper stem diameter.

*Measurement of upper stem diameters at particular heights.

*Quick determination of "slenderness"(height /diameter ratio)

of standing tree.

*Determinsation of from heights.,and the volumes of standing

trees by Preesler’s formula.

*Relaskops are the pricippe instrument of  " variable plot sampling "

which has a special advantage.
