方位と時刻を見たり距離を測定する道具であるが
軍需産業から派生した測定器だけによくできている。

手のひらにすっぽりとフィットするボディー形状や
５倍単眼鏡の使いやすさは、フィールドで
使ってみるとよくわかる。
連続９方位メモリーは弾着確認用であろう。
ヨット競争など海洋スポーツに
よく使われているようだ。
The ultimate
navigational
tool
-combining a patented electronic rangefinder,
a digital compass, and a digital quartz crystal
chronometer in a compact, waterproof unit.
As a rangefinder, the DataScope uses known
heights and a relative size to determine range.
In Comapss mode,it stores up to 9 bearings
and times of bearings in memory for later recall
or determine delta in bearings and time
between the bearings.
